Consider for a moment the responsibility we accept when moving a client’s rare and ofttimes irreplaceable vintage Porsche. The entire process requires complete focus, years of experience, and precise choreography. For Labor Day weekend this year, we were challenged like never before.
Lime Rock Park’s Historics Festival is one of the finest annual vintage automobile gatherings in North America. Each year, a noted collector is chosen to be featured under the tent. For 2021, the nod went to renowned architect Steven Harris. Steven’s Porsche collection is truly extraordinary, rivaling the best in the world. We’ve been fortunate to have cared for many of his cars over the years and can attest to the quality, beauty and diversity of his curation.

After careful consideration of the most recent Executive Order (7G) by Connecticut Governor Lamont, which considers auto repair an essential service, SpeedSport Tuning and SST Auto will remain open to take care of our customers.
We will continue to follow all CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in order to keep our employees, our customers and our community safe.
- Our office and shop will remain locked during the day. All customers who choose to drop off their vehicles will leave the keys in the secure drop box next to our front office door.

January, 2020 – Bryan Lagas, the General Manager of Speedsport Tuning and SST Auto, has formally purchased the business. Speedsport/SST begins the new decade with the same staff and department heads clients have depended on, yet with a renewed sense of purpose and a forward-looking mission.
Speedsport Tuning began life 30 years ago as a small Porsche performance shop owned by Larry Prentiss in Norwalk, Connecticut. The shop had a good reputation and eventually attracted Porsche technician Spencer Cox. After working for Larry for a couple of years, Spencer purchased the business, fully embracing local enthusiasts and the burgeoning Porsche Club Racing scene. With steady growth, the business outgrew its location and moved to Danbury in 2005 and then to its current 32,000 square foot location in 2010.

While Speedsport’s reputation in the Porsche world continued to grow, their clients often asked the shop to handle the service and maintenance on their non-Porsche vehicles as well. SST Auto was formed as a sister company to specialize on non-Porsche European cars including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, VW, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Maserati, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lotus.
Additional award-winning factory-trained technicians were brought onboard to service this fast-expanding market. While it began as a Porsche-centric shop, over the years many clients would bring us their non-Porsche vehicles for service. Speedsport was the only shop they trusted to take care of their cars, so we happily obliged.
As the business continued to grow, eventually SST Auto was born to work exclusively on European automobiles. We added expert, factory-trained Audi, BMW, VW, Mercedes and Mini technicians to provide the same level of service his Porsche customers were accustomed to.
Today, SST Auto and Speedsport Tuning operate out of a modern 32,000 square foot facility in Danbury, Connecticut conveniently located near the Danbury Mall and Danbury Airport.
